Hello KES Cougar Families! We had a great first day of school! Yay!
I want to send a few reminders about how students will leave school. This will help the next few days go well.
The state says we must change how we dismiss students on rainy days if lightning is within 10 miles of the school. This often happens at 3 pm, when school lets out. This does not give us much time to tell families. Thank you for being patient on rainy days. The safety of students is most important.
- Parents who walk or bike to pick up their children need a pick-up tag for rainy days, like today. This is also true if your child is in Kindergarten or First grade.
- If you do not have a pick-up tag, please go to the office with your ID to get one.
- Rainy day dismissal for walkers and bikers: Please have your tag ready when you get to the school. Please go to the doors on the right side of the school and wait outside. Please do not come inside the lobby. A staff member will meet you. They will get your student(s) for you. Your student(s) will walk out to the front.
- This is for students who walk or bike to school. If you are in a car, please use the pick-up line in front of the school.
- Please hang your car tag from your rearview mirror when you come to the school. The tag should have all students listed on it.
- Keep your tag up until your child is safely in the car. Then take it down.
- Kindergarten to 2nd grade (and older brothers and sisters) pick up is in front of the school. 3rd to 5th grade and VE (and VE siblings) pick up is on the bus loop (after the buses leave).
- Many 3rd-grade parents were in the front pick-up line. This made it take longer to get those students. Tomorrow, you will be asked to go to the correct line.
Thank you for helping keep our students safe! Please ask if you have any questions.
