Kingsway Elementary School Compact for Success 2026-2027

 

Parent/Guardian Agreement

To support my child's growth and success, I commit to partnering with the school in the following ways:

  • Ensure my child's daily attendance for the entire school day from 8:40 am to 3:10pm.

  • Support the school in its efforts to maintain high academic expectations and proper discipline.

  • Monitor screen time and content at home.

  • Establish a time for my child's homework, assist when needed, and review it regularly.

  • Encourage my child's efforts.

  • Be available for questions and parent-teacher conferences.

  • Commit to literacy by reading to or with my child at least four times each week.

  • Support and reaffirm resiliency lessons taught at school by encouraging positive behaviors, open communication, and healthy coping skills at home.

  • Provide current emergency information, including address and phone number changes.

  • Attend school functions/events.

  • Show respect for the school staff, teachers, and children.

  • Review the Proud to LEAD expectations with students quarterly.

  • Visit the Kingsway Family Reading Experience (FRE).

Teacher Agreement

To support my students' growth and success, I commit to foster a community where everyone can excel by doing the following:

  • Maintain a classroom atmosphere which allows all students to be successful.

  • Provide a safe and nurturing classroom environment that promotes student success.

  • Provide appropriate homework assignments for students, as needed.

  • Provide opportunities for students to create action steps with obtainable goals.

  • Assist parents so they can help with assignments and student progress.

  • Hold parent-teacher conferences to communicate as needed with parents.

  • Encourage families to attend school events.

  • Provide opportunities for families to volunteer.

  • Provide dedicated resiliency lessons.

  • Use rigorous activities in the classroom to ensure student academic achievement for all students.

  • Be prompt and positive in communicating necessary student information.

Principal Agreement

To support my school's growth and success, I commit to providing an environment where students and staff thrive by doing the following:

  • Provide an environment that allows for positive communication between the teacher, parent, and student.

  • Have high expectations for myself, students, and staff.

  • Show respect to all students, staff, families, and community members.

  • Always be Proud to LEAD.

  • Maintain a positive school culture with student success as our vision.


Student Agreement

To support my own growth and success, I commit to being Proud to LEAD everyday by doing the following:

  • Attend school all day, every day.

  • Come to school each day ready to learn and do my best.

  • Complete all classwork and return all homework assignments by due dates.

  • Ask for help if I need it.

  • Follow the Proud to LEAD expectations in all areas of the school.

  • Work hard to reach my goals.

 

Grade-Level Commitments

Kindergarten Students

  • I will practice my letters and sounds daily.

  • I will practice my sight words daily.

  • I will practice my numbers daily.

  • I will read with an adult daily.

First Grade Students

  • I will practice my weekly phonics sounds.

  • I will practice my "heart" words daily.

  • I will practice my addition and subtraction math facts.

  • I will read a book with someone each day.

Second Grade Students

  • I will read to an adult each night to improve my fluency.

  • I will retell details about what I read with an adult nightly.

  • I will practice my addition and subtraction math facts each night.

Third Grade Students

  • I will read a book for at least 30 minutes each night.

  • I will practice my multiplication math facts each night.

  • I will complete all of my homework to the best of my ability.

Fourth Grade Students

  • I will read a book for at least 30 minutes each night.

  • I will practice my multiplication and division facts each night until I have reached mastery.

  • I will always be responsible, always be respectful, and always try my best.

Fifth Grade Students

  • I will read my book for at least 30 minutes a night.

  • I will practice my multiplication and division facts each night.

  • I will follow the Be Proud to LEAD expectations at all times.
